Inaugurated on June 20 1998, the Nettuno Marina can host 160 boats in length between eight and twenty meters without draft limitations. The moorings consist in aluminum floating piers and the whole water surface is protected by a floating reinforced concrete dam. The geographic position of the structure is particularly favorable to all users that are transferring from the Tyrrhenian to the Ionian seas and back, which offers a good shelter from the prevailing winds of the Messina Strait. The distances from the nearest marinas allow smooth sailings towards the Mediterranean's most beautiful touristic destinations. The stop in the port can become a good opportunity to visit the city of Messina and its artistic or natural beauties or the history and charm rich surroundings. The distinations from the most famous tourist resorts can, in fact, be reached in under an hour. For the boats that are 'wintering' in the Marina, a transfer service from the near Reggio Calabria Airport and from the International Airport of Catania is provided. Strictly from the nautical point of view, the Marina of Nettuno is in all effects a retreat port equipped with sanitary facilities and showers 24 h running; the mooring is simplified through the presence of 'fingers' (mooring arms) and therefore it is not necessary to anchor or to catch the tops of bollards; custody and mooring assistance are guaranteed for 24 h all year round.
